Rachel Botsman

Keynote

Rachel Botsman is a global expert on the power of collaboration and sharing through technology to transform the way we live, work, bank and consume.

She defined the theory of the ‘collaborative consumption’, named by TIME as ‘An Idea that Will Change the World’, in her critically acclaimed book ‘What’s Mine is Yours: How Collaborative Consumption Is Changing The Way We Live’. Her TED talks on the subject have been viewed over two million times.

She is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, was named by Fast Company as one of the ‘Most Creative People in Business’ and featured by Monocle as one of the top 20 speakers in the world to have at your conference.

Her writings and research have featured in the Harvard Business Review, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, New York Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times, and other publications. She is an associate editor for WIRED UK and has a monthly tech trends column in the Australian Financial Review.

She has spoken to and advised a diverse range of companies including the Clinton Global Initiative, Google, World Council of Credit Unions, Microsoft, PwC, SAP, Lend Lease, and many others on the power of the collaborative economy as lens to view challenges and unlock new opportunities in the world.

She was previously a founding partner in the Collaborative Fund, an early stage investor in disruptive ventures, and a former director at President Clinton’s Foundation. Rachel was born in the UK and has studied and worked in the United States. She received her BFA (Honors) from the University of Oxford, and undertook her postgraduate studies at Harvard University.

Rachel is currently teaching the first-ever M.B.A. course on the collaborative economy at Oxford University Said School of Business in 2015. Her work has taken her to every continent, except Antarctica.
